Ford Motor has recently unveiled its new 2012 Ford Focus, which is being called the company’s first truly global car.
According to the company, the 2012 Ford Focus was designed and engineered to be sold worldwide using almost all of the same parts, which is unlike all of the past versions. The 2012 Focus is being sold in Asia, America, as well as Europe.
With the rollout of 2012 Ford Focus, buyers can be excited by the better gas mileage, which is a prime motivator to many car buyers. It is better than past models having a 40 MPG projected fuel economy, which is better than the past 35 MPG on the highway.
Based on sophisticated German craftsmanship and technology inspired by the World Rally Championship, the 2012 Ford Focus comes with best-in-class safety features. Body structure meeting the NCAP 5-star standards gives the driver the best experience possible.
The 2012 Ford Focus also has the same electronic-controlled suspension as the European Focus, generally known for better handling than U.S. vehicles.
But Jim Hughes, the Focus’ chief engineer, said new technology will allow it to handle well without compromising ride quality.
“It certainly has a lot more steering precision and agility,” he said. “The vehicle itself will still be very, very comfortable.”
The new Focus’ interior is slightly larger than the current version, and Ford says it will be quieter than all vehicles in its class and even the larger Honda Accord midsize car.
The Focus styling has a smaller windows and lines that rise from front to back. Hughes said they took steps to reduce wind drag.

This has undoubtedly been the year of the Ford – but now it’s the turn of the new Focus to muscle in on the limelight. Ford has sharpened up the looks and revised the interior as it aims to propel its family hatch to the top of the class. The original model redefined the market when it replaced the Escort in 1998. The sharp styling was a radical departure for the firm and an instant hit, while excellent dynamics made it the class benchmark for driver appeal. Six years later, and the second-generation model was launched, but while it added refinement and improved quality to the recipe, bold styling seemed to take a back seat.
That didn’t prevent it from repeating its predecessor’s success, and it was named our Car of the Year in 2005. But much has changed over the years, as the Honda Civic now had a major competitor in the Ford Focus. It’s distinctively styled, spacious, cheap to run and entertaining to drive, and is a firm Auto Express favorite. Not to be outdone, Ford claims it has made some significant improvements to the Focus. But the big question is, can the face lifted version fight back and prove even more practical, better built and desirable than the Japanese’ Honda Civic.
The answer to this question is yes! While the Honda Civic still remains a fan favorite in the automotive industry, Ford has restyled its compact sedan from the inside out and added a few new features to set the sedan apart from its Japanese competitor. New in 2012, the Ford Focus was rebuilt to include standard electronic stability control, keyless entry, power locks, and anti-lock brakes. Not to mention the all-new Ford Focus now incorporates Ford’s MyKey technology which gives parents the ability to set limits on stereo volume and vehicle speed in order to ensure a safer driving environment for their children. While it’s clear Ford has spent ample time to improve on the features of their compact sedan, what has Honda done to improve the Civic you ask? Sorry to disappoint, but for all of the Honda fans out there, the Honda Civic remains the same in 2012 as its previous model.
